Great post, Andrew. I think we can so easily get bogged down in doctrinal or historical controversy or distracted by the natural friction that exists between human beings in close communities that we lose sight of fruits of the Gospel like those you have described.

Your post reminded me of something Will Durant wrote: "Civilization is a stream with banks. The stream is sometimes filled with blood from people killing, stealing, shouting and doing the things historians usually record, while on the banks, unnoticed, people build homes, make love, raise children, sing songs, write poetry and even whittle statues. The story of civilization is the story of what happened on the banks. Historians are pessimists because they ignore the banks for the river"

Thanks for the eloquent reminder to pay attention to what's happening on the banks.

Thanks Andrew. Having lived in that ward, it was neat to hear about your experiences with people I know. A great post about the simplicity of the gospel.

Great post. We tend to focus far too often on negatives, while forgetting to take time to appreciate the simple joy of our worship and families. Thanks.
